Babylon
City of wonder
And place of great charms
The cradle of humanity
Rests in your arms
Jewel of Nebuchadnezzar
And mightiest in the land
Your beauty is seductive
Eternal, you stand
Refined and magnificent
Your people do strive
To make better your standing
The pride of their lives
By right of my fathers
Indebted to sons
Your nobility blinds me
Your fortitude stuns
Behind, there be Uruk
Where Gilgamesh lay
O child of the Euphrates
Where the wild man didst play
Ahead, Mesopotamia
My soul's land of birth
Above hang your gardens
Below but red earth
On bones of Sumeria
You reach for the sky
Though your towers have crumbled
They meet my mind's eye
So tamed was Enkidu
His soul but to nourish
Your people live forever
And your memory doth flourish
From the Great Bull of Heaven
To the Tails, we retain
Your legacy immortal
Flows through our veins.
