Also called "The Ox" and "The Quiet One", John Alec Entwistle was born on October 9th, 1944 in Chiswick, England. He kicks major ass and as bassists go, is one bad motherplucker. His musical talents include amazing bass, trumpet, trombone and other brass instruments, piano, guitar, composition and singing. What more need I say about this guy? Here's a good start... AWESOME!!! Check him out for yourself - he's the one and only bassist for The Who. I got to see him live at Palookaville in Santa Cruz, California once with the John Entwistle band and my ears rang for three wonderful days afterward! While touring with the Ringo Starr All-Star band in 1995, he gained the distinction of having playing Yellow Subamrine more times than Paul McCartney. I suggest checking out "The Real Me" from The Who's Quadrophenia, Heaven and Hell from the re-release of Live at Leeds (much better than the studio recording) and his nifty solo works like "Made in Japan". Sadly, the world said goodbye to the man on July 27th, 2002 but his legend lives on. He is my ultimate bass hero, four strings attached.
